Annie's Fish Finds: Freezing Floridian Fish

The fish in Anotoinette’s Fish are cichlids that come from Lake Tanganyika, and many cichlid hobbyists prefer to have fish that have been raised in the wild, but in the United States, about half of all the tropical fish sold are raised on farms in Florida. Annie's Fish Finds: Schooling Fish and Taming Wind

These turbines spin on a horizontal axis, and are less efficient than if they were turned and spun on a vertical axis, according to researchers. Photo by Mancio7B9

Annie's Fish Finds: Tagging Nassau Groupers

Through a collaboration between REEF, the Cayman Island Department of the Environment, and Oregon State University, the Grouper Moon project, started in April 2008, continues. It is deep water spawning time, and project leader Phil Bush recently announced that divers plan to swim down 60 meters to tag spawning groupers, to better keep track of their movements and see if they survive until the next spawning season. This way they can better decide which spawning areas must be protected.
